A Snowy Situation

Today, we have had an enormous snowfall, one of the largest since the year 2008. On Allen road in Toronto, it was difficult for vehicles to get up the hill and some people decided to just make a U-turn after several attempts at getting up that hill.

Other people did the right thing and stayed at home today because the driving was very dangerous and slippery. It is better to take the day off rather than possibly getting into an accident. Workplaces were very understanding and supportive.

Today, most of the day was spent shoveling the snow and low and behold you have to shovel the snow again after a few hours because it just keeps snowing and snowing and snowing!

If you do have to drive today, be careful. Turning corners and going up hills is where most people had problems. Often time, when you are turning a corner, there is a pile of snow at the corner and you can get stuck very easily. The hills are dangerous, going up a hill is difficult and when you are going down a hill, make sure you are going slow enough that you can stop if the vehicle in front of you stops because you do not want to go plowing into another vehicle.

The walk was a workout today for sure with the sidewalks unplowed. The snow from the road plows piling up on the sidewalk made the walk a hike through the deep snow. Even a Husky Labrador Golden Retriever mix by the name of Daisy had a tough time walking down the street stopping and sitting or lying down to bite the caked up ice off her delicate paws.

Make a healthy conscious choice. Do not over work yourself. While shoveling the snow, take breaks and have a warm drink such as a hot chocolate, tea, coffee or water.
