A Snowy Hike

The snow is continuing slowly and some roads have been plowed but the sidewalks are not plowed in some areas still. People are still digging their driveways and vehicles out and others are still stuck in the snow.

If you are planning to walk, be very careful and watch out for snow plows. A Lady was walking with her Golden Retriever Labrador Husky today when she mentioned that it took them over an hour to walk to the post office, and then to the bank. A walk that would normally probably only take 20 minutes.

If you do plan to walk, do not walk on the road because vehicles are sliding all over the place and you may get into an accident. Wear good boots that are equipped for the winter and deep snow and walk through the snow where the sidewalk would normally be. It is quite a tough hike but look at all the exercise you will be getting! Leave a lot of time to go for your walk because it will take a lot longer than usual. Wear bright colours so that you are well seen by drivers. Be careful while walking and do not walk too closely to the edge of the sidewalk. Think of where the center of the sidewalk would be and walk in the center because you do not want to slip and fall on to the road.
