A week ago I came back from what my friends might have called – an exhausting 9-day road trip in France. “You, what? Paris, central, Monaco and Cote-de-zur – all in 9 days?” addressed the issue of my too-good-to-be-realistic plan to see the parts of France I missed the last time.
Little did they know that after my 11-day trip in Italy (where I got to see Rome, Venice, Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano and Sienna) and the 9-day trip to Spain (where I got to see Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Cordoba, and Toledo), the trip to France sounded manageable. At least – to me.
However, I must add, if you’ve never been to Paris, three day stay is not enough, but since I’ve been there a few times and I also lived there, I figured that I’d quickly make a stop, show my friend all the best of it as a local would do and then we could immerse into the road trip on our French Renault car rental. In my next few stories, I’d like to tell you the best, the good, and some ugly of my trip to France.
Take a note!
Paris: Day 1, 2 and 3
Paris is not the city to talk little about, so I won’t be going into extreme details of how beautiful the city of lights is – it’s just simply beautiful (if you can disregard a bit of inconvenience and particular to the French culture habits. We all know what I’m talking about.)
First of all: if you are planning to take a taxi, do it at the official taxi stand, do not take up an offer from a man inside the airport lobby who kindly suggests a “fare” of 80 Euros. The official taxi costs 40-50 Euros from Charles De Guille airport to the centre of Paris. Do yourself a favor and watch your luggage, wallets and other belongings in Paris, because like any other big cities in the world – there is a wide mix of characters.
If you think that three days is not manageable for Paris, I’d say “it depends on the level of your stamina” For me, I sleep and eat little on the trips to foreign countries because it’s a shame to be missing out on seeing and hearing so much of another culture. So, that’s said, in my next articles I'll explore various parts of Paris such as Montmartre and Pigalle, The Louvre and The Tuileries, The Latin Quarter, Siene, and Eiffel Tower - that one can see in just three days...
