Her name is Caroline Giovani. She arrived from Hollywood to make a movie in Ireland. For whatever reason this small little known village in Ireland knew very little about the intricacies of movie making, except that anyone with acting ambitions wanted to be discovered, and be offered a trip to the States.
Caroline had all the trappings of a Hollywood star, including a body guard. One local extra, she spotted, and invited to her private quarters; but he was bothered by level of his treatment, felt like a hired hand, and not a love interest. The sexual encounter never happened.
This bothered his friend, who felt for sure, that to be chosen by a star from Hollywood for the night, was surely the big break a small town Irelander would grab.
The play is called Stones in His Pockets, and all some 12 to 14 characters are played by two male actors, Clinton Brandhagen and Todd Lawson. This is a tremendous undertaking especially, when a play of this magnitude only gave the actors four weeks to know their lines.
Director Derek Goldman described his undertaking as a “thrill of working in a distinctive way”.
If Center Stage had an annual award ceremony Clinton and Todd would undoubtedly be nominated for several categories, and for being sex objects, with more than accents.
