Why is it that our plans never go as we anticipate? Is it too much to expect smooth sailings as opposed to choppy waters? Isn’t positive thinking the path we’re supposed to take?
When something doesn’t turn out as planned, it is important to take some time to understand the real situation. Although you may feel like your life is ruined, and the situation may really suck, you are not the only person who has suffered the consequence of a bad choice or been dealt a bad hand of cards by the universe. The point is, don’t lose yourself in a poor me emotional spiral but do understand what you feel is real; respect this process of recovery.
A setback does impact you and because of this, give yourself time to attend to what you need right now, do your healing work.
Remember you can only control you so if you are relying on others as primary players in your plan, perhaps it is time to revise it accordingly and to own your own destination; this will help you take back your power.
Although your game plan targets the ultimate destination, you cannot anticipate everything this path will entail (you are not a fortuneteller). Whatever the setback is, it probably won’t mean anything a year from now so instead, focus on how you handle your recovery instead of the actual delay.
A setback, as described by TheFreeDictionary.com means, “An unanticipated or sudden check in progress; a change from better to worse.”
It is a check in progress and although the change took you off track and you feel worse, this hindrance gifts growth. You will persevere through this challenge so make sure you give yourself credit because you’ll be better for it!
