A second American journalist has been beheaded by ISIS

ISIS is clearly presenting the United States and its allies with the most brutal terrorist threat in history. This is particularly problematic at a time when the United States is deeply troubled by internal rifts due to serious extensive financial problems for more Americans than ever coupled with a breakdown in relations between many sectors of the general public and the police due to allegations of rampant police brutality across the country. ISIS is taking advantage of these weaknesses in the fabric of the United States to help break down America with fear tactics and has reportedly beheaded a second American journalist according to a New York Times article on Sept. 2, 2014.

The SITE Intelligence Group, which is a research organization that tracks jihadist web postings, says the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria has beheaded Steven J. Sotloff and posted a video of this bloody killing on the Internet. This is said to be the second American who has been executed by the Islamic militant group. The tragic execution of 31 year old Sotloff occurred even though his mother made direct pleas to the top leader of ISIS seeking mercy for her son. Sotloff was a freelance journalist who was captured in northern Syria last year.

The Hill reports the White House says the American intelligence community is working to determine as soon as possible the authenticity of the video showing the beheading of Sotloff. ISIS has been threatening to behead Sotloff if President Obama ordered
bombings of Iraq. ISIS recently released another video showing the beheading of American freelance journalist James Foley. It appears the United States had better change gears and work quickly for more cohesiveness at home if the country wishes to effectively fight this literal threat to its existence.
