The A's are back atop the AL West, albeit in a first place tie with the Angels, after a 2-1 win on Saturday night at Coliseum in Oakland.

Coming into the three-game series against the Halos, the A's were two games back, and now with two wins in a row, look to take sole possession of first place on Sunday.

Getting the start on Saturday was John Lester, who was unable to get the win despite only giving up one run, as the A's could not offer up much run support, but he was nonetheless excellent through seven innings.

Sam Fuld got Oakland on the board with an RBI single in the second inning off of CJ Wilson and they nearly scored again in the sixth when Josh Donaldson was called out at the plate after a Derek Norris double. The Angels would then tie the game in the seventh, but Coco Crisp, led off the eight with a single and made his way to third after two straight groundouts. Then a wild pitch from Smith allowed Crisp to score the go-ahead and eventual winning run.

The A's will now send Scott Kazmir (14-5) against Jered Weaver (13-7) on Sunday night in an attempt to earn a much-needed sweep in what has turned out to be the most significant series of the year for the green and gold.
