A's agree to minor league contract with LHP Hideki Okajima

The Oakland A's today confirmed reports that they have signed left-handed pitcher Hideki Okajima to a minor league contract.

Okajima will be joining the team's training camp as a non-roster invitee.

Okajima is coming back to the U.S. after pitching in Japan last year for Soft Bank, where he posted an 0-2 record with 9 saves and a 0.94 ERA. The 37-year old spent 12 seasons in Japan with Yomiuri from 1995-2005 and one additional year with Nippon-Ham in 2006 before signing with the Boston Red Sox, where he played from 2007-2011, posting a 17-8 record with 6 saves and a 3.11 ERA.

Okajima had also signed a minor league contract with the Yankees last year but was subsequently released one month later before returning to Japan.
