A rose of a writer

Here is a poem by a friend of mine, Bonnie Harker. She is a member of the Bartlett Christian Writers and has lived in the Memphis area all her life. She is an inspiration to so many at our church and in our community that I wanted to share a very special poem here. May you be blessed with knowing God's love throughout this Christmas season and the new year.

"Be Thankful For The Thorns"

Take a bouquet of roses
And snip each blossom one by one
Place the stems into a vase
To remind you of God's Son

If it were not for the thorns of life
That we experience every day
We could not appreciate the roses
That Jesus sends our way

Every thorn reminds us of trials
That we have carried through
By the power of Jesus' Love
That's working in me and you

Be thankful for the thorns
That became His only crown
He put on our circlet of curses
That on our own we couldn't put down

Each thorn represents the curse of sin
That Jesus took away from us
Each drop of blood shed from each wound
Makes us holy and righteous to Him

So when you look at the blossomless stems
That make up your prickly bouquet
Just remember Jesus' love
That took our sins away

I will never look at a rose the same way again. Thanks Bonnie for permission to share this lovely poem.
