This past week seemed to open the flood gates for tourist season, in SW Florida. That lovely time of year, where a normally seven minute drive takes a local over one hour to complete! Just strap yourselves in, turn up the music and go see a local band or four to release the road rage properly.
The hint of season can be sensed on the local music scene, as Monday and Tuesday evenings are becoming regular weekly performances and at some other venues that may not showcase music all week long, or if at all. There are new members that made their debut with some old favorties and there are again rumblings underneath the surface with numerous brand new bands ready to hit this grand music scene rather shortly.
It indeed is a great time to get out there and see all that is new within the musical wonderland of SW Florida, and I shall be sure to capture it in all it's glory in the Nikon lense. Shall we proceed? I believe so...
MT40 showcased their new front man and lead singer, Ron Howard, who has definitely bumped up the energy level to this live experience. Ron brings more of an 'in your face' style to their song list, as well as having a knack to grab the crowd into participation whether it be them singing along or packing the dance floor. It truly is great to see an added 'BA-zing!' in this already energy packed performance and this fan highly recommends taking in a show!
We Ain't Right had a debut of their new guitar star, Steve McWilliams, who will also join in on the fun in the line up for Troublemakerz, as well. Steve is a lovely addition to these ensembles and brings a fuller, more rounded sound to the guitar tracks hands down. It sounded great and the crowd seemed to enjoy it at Castaway's which is where We Ain't Right are featured every Wednesday from 8 PM - 12 AM. Both line ups can be seen shortly at the Cottage on a rotating Sunday schedule, so stay tuned.
The local kings of Funk are getting back to things, Groove Alliance are branching out with their fun brand of Funk. They now play the Dek Bar every Tuesday evening and they will make a beach appearance when they pull into The Beached Whale, this coming Monday evening, February 4th - showtime is 10 PM. Do not miss these boys, their youth dissipates once they strike chords and lay down the best Funk since a little band named the Red Hot Chili Peppers made history. These young lads are way ahead of there time creatively!
10,000 Views is holding steady with their Wacky Wednesday at The Beached Whale and a weekend there as well on a monthly spin. These three masters of music are hard at work recording, fine tuning and planning some major and larger shows to come. This fan loves a band with the outlook of: "Go big, or go home", and these lads appear to be on that very track and only good things are to come for sure.
A200 has entered the studio with Scott Bush and John Garrow at Timeline Studios and this fan can promise that some fine sounds will be the result of this musical mix coming together, indeed. Check out their new sound system at Diamond Billiards
every Thursday evening, it fills that place completely and with clear precision.
Back Lash also is playing some new venues on a regular basis as well. They can be enjoyed at The Basin every Tuesday evening, in Naples from 8 -11 PM. This classic rock party then takes over Jack's Bait Shack this entire coming weekend. They are thrilled
to have an entire schedule to play closer to home, so get out and support these fine folks and have some fun! Jack's is a great local spot for music and they offer one of the best menus around the Bonita-Naples area.
Superbot is branching out into Naples with a rotating Monday gig at the Blue Martini and they also have a Seminole Casino date coming up very soon! They hold down every Thursday evening at The Beached Whale, as well.
Simple Jack returns to our local scene with an original show at Rack Em's and also a stop at Nemo's on the Beach this Friday from 6-9 PM.
Se7en Stories makes their Cigar Bar Live debut this coming weekend and this fan looks forward to seeing these boys let loose in a new venue for sure. Keep an eye and ear on this band o boys, as they are gaining ground on this scene and taking no prisoners!
There is plenty shaking on our local music scene, SW Florida. So do yourselves and local music a favor and make it a point to get out there and support the scene. It is a win-win for all involved...Charlie Sheen would be proud!
