We have all heard about diet trends, exercise fads and quick weight loss gimmicks. Most of us know the formulas that work for us and that consistency is of the utmost importance. It is a lifestyle change that needs to be embraced. This lifestyle change requires incorporation of diet, exercise and increased metabolism.
With diet, moderation is key and good food choices are a must. We shouldn’t deny ourselves with food that we love, but we should definitely make a conscious decision to input foods that boost metabolism, contain anti-oxidants and promote a healthy diet. The following foods are known to decrease obesity and prevent cancer: lemons, blackberries, cranberries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, green apples, pineapple, oranges, red grapes (resveratrol), red wine (extract), green tea, tomatoes (cooked), cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, kale, bok choy, soy beans, artichokes, pumpkin, maitake nmushroom, garlic, tumeric, parsley, ginseng, ginger, nutmeg, olive oil, grape seed oil, licorice, lavender, grapefruit and dark chocolate.
An example of a great breakfast recipe that would increase metabolism is as follows: Juice made up of - 3 green apples, 1 celery stalk, kale, 1 small ginger, ½ lemon and whey protein.
As for exercise, starting off with a good daily walk and slowly adding activities that you enjoy will not only be good for your health, but be fun as well. Golf, hiking, walks at the beach / park are at the top of my list so definitely share yours so we can all get some great ideas from each other!
