January 14, 2009 - American Idol Season 8 premieres, and we got our first glimpse of Adam Lambert.
February 11, 2009 - Lambert makes Idol's Top 36.
March 18, 2009 - Lambert makes Idol's Top 9.
May 8, 2009 - Adam Lambert's homecoming visit to San Diego, CA.
May 14, 2009 - Adam Lambert is featured on cover of Entertainment Weekly, where he is called "The Most Exciting 'American Idol' Contestant in Years'.
May 20, 2009 - Finished as runner-up on Season 8 of American Idol, performing alongside Kiss and Queen during the finale.
June 7, 2009 - Adam Lambert is honored by winning Artist of the Year at the 11th Annual Young Hollywood Awards with an award presented by Idol judge Kara DioGuardi.
June 9, 2009 - Adam Lambert is signed to 19 Recordings and licensed to RCA Records.
June 10, 2009 - Adam Lambert's Rolling Stone cover issue hits stands, where he confirms speculation that he is indeed gay.
June 17, 2009 - People Magazine includes Lambert on its' 2009 "Hottest Bachelors" list.
June 19, 2009 - Hi Fi Recordings and Wilshire Records attempted to monopolize on Lambert's success by releasing an album recorded while Lambert was working as a session musician. Lambert's take in a statement released by 19 Entertainment: "Back in 2005 when I was a struggling artist, I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else. I was broke at the time and this was my chance to make a few bucks, so I jumped at the opportunity to record for my first time in a professional studio. The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on."
July 5, 2009 - American Idols Live! Tour 2009 kicks off, featuring the top ten American Idol finalists visiting 50 cities throughout the United States.
August 9, 2009 - Adam Lambert wins the Teen Choice Award for Male Reality/Variety Star.
October 20, 2009 - Lambert's contribution to the 2012 film soundtrack, "Time For Miracles" is released.
October 28, 2009 - Adam Lambert announces via Twitter that the first single from For Your Entertainment would be a Dr. Luke-produced track of the same name and would debut on Ryan Seacrest's radio show on October 30.
October 29, 2009 - Lambert releases the androgynous cover art to his debut album.
October 30, 2009 - "For Your Entertainment" debuts on Ryan Seacrest's radio show.
November 22, 2009 - In his first live performance since Idol, Lambert closes out the 39th Annual American Music Awards with a controversial performance of the first single from his album, For Your Entertainment. This performance included simulated oral sex with a male and kissing a member of his band.
November 23, 2009 - Lambert's debut album, For Your Entertainment is released on RCA Records/19 Recordings.
December 9, 2009 - Lambert is interviewed by Barbara Walters for her "10 Most Fascinating People of 2009" TV special.
December 12, 2009 - For Your Entertainment debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200, selling 198,000 copies.
