This week San Francisco, painted up in every shade of the rainbow (check out the storefronts along Market Street near Union Square), will host hundreds of thousands of lesbians, gays, transexuals, bisexuals, and people who support equality in the annual event that celebrates individual identity. The best place to keep abreast of everything happening during this hectic, crowded gathering (last year's event saw over 1.8 million revelers, according to Executive Director George Ridgely) is SF Pride's main hub, sfpride.org.

Here are a five other events and resources worth checking out:

For the scientific types:

Pride Nightlife: explore the science of being you, revel in an outer space drag show, take in legendary drag queen Helinka discovering the outermost reaches of the galaxy, craft your own leather + lace handcuffs with the LGBT community, and learn how scientists uncover truths of life on Earth through examining skulls at the California Academy of Sciences.

Thursday, June 26 starting at 6:00 PM. Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased here.

For the hipsters:

We Proud: the cool kids from WillCall have identified the hippest celebrations for the discerning pride partygoer. From tonight through Sunday, they've covered it all - from Bearracuda at Public Works to a DJ set by Ladytron's Reuben Wu - on their blog. Another bonus: BarTab ensures you don't have to deal with the hassle of getting the bartender's attention to close out your tab at the end of the night.

Thursday, June 26 through Sunday, June 29. Ticket prices vary and can be purchased through WillCall's free app (available for Android and iPhone).

For those who really want to dance:

SF's Pride Parade marches into its 44th year and to commemorate its 35th year in business, Rhythm & Motion Dance Workout has assembled a trio of choreographers to guide would-be dancers down the Market Street Parade Route. Participants can train for their moment in the spotlight by watching videos of the routines on the event's page, including Whitney Houston's "I Wanna to Dance with Somebody," but attending rehearsals is highly encouraged.

Sunday, June 29 at 9:00 AM. Tickets are $35 each and include a contingent shirt plus rehearsals. Purchase tickets here.

For those ready to tie the knot:

UberWEDDING: To celebrate equality in marriage, Uber is granting free wedding celebrations to couples who would like to tie the knot this weekend. Detailed instructions can be found on the ridesharing service's main blog. Basically, once users have required paperwork handy, they should drop a pin on a location where they want their nuptials to take place. If selected, Uber will foot the bill for the 45-60 minute ceremony and provide accommodations for the honeymoon as well.

Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29. If selected, the service if free of charge. For more information on how to enter, click here.

For those who like to celebrate birthdays:

Big Gay Birthday: the city of San Francisco is turning 238 years old on Friday, June 27. What better way to celebrate than with The Bold Italic, Mezzanine, drag queens, a lip synching contest, and performances from JD Samson (Le Tigre, MEN), DJ Rapid Fire, Double Duchess, Honey Mahogany, Peaches Christ, and more? Everyone can let loose and drink up as Lyft will be providing complimentary rides (up to $30).
