If you ask me to tell you the day I first stepped into Julienne's, I would have to say it was sometime around 1995 or 1996. The restaurant actually opened in 1985. A girlfriend of mine first took me to this amazing restaurant with a café, bakery and store. This ideal location in beautiful downtown San Marino (a wealthy suburb of Pasadena) has everything what I would want – a nice outdoor patio with luscious trees, a store to find gift items, or last minute to-go lunch or dinner selections and a great bakery lined with luscious treats.
The clientele is varied which includes businessmen to a ladies luncheon or a few women shopping for the day. If you are lucky like me, I came alone the other day and found one of the few counter seats. I feasted on the famous Chicken Apricot Salad with huge chunks of chicken, dried apricots, almonds, rosemary and honey-Dijon dressing. At $14.50 it’s worth every bite – they are so accommodating I even added beets to my salad.
Other selections include a great bowl of French Onion Soup ($7.50) or Open-Faced Smoked Salmon Sandwich ($15.50), Tuscan Meatloaf ($l6.50), Parmesan Crusted Swordfish with Lemon Caper Cream Sauce, ($18.50), or an Open-Faced Egg Salad Sandwich with White Truffle Oil ($13.50). Please see website for extended menus for Breakfast and Lunch only. They are not open for Dinner.
