I had the wonderful pleasure of catching up with him after his stirring performance at a North St. Louis county nightclub called Another Level. He was ever so humble and gracious to speak with me even with his assiduous schedule.
Rodney: Hey man, how are you?
De Andre: I'm great and you...
Rodney: Just great. I want to talk first about how you plan to serenade your fans for Valentine's Day.
De Andre: First off, I want to say fellows if you got somebody good in your life, hold on to her and treat her right, especially on this Valentine's Day. However I'm going to spend this time encouraging other men to make their woman happy by making my woman happy.
Rodney: Do you ever think about the American Idol and how close you were?
De Andre: I do, but I don't let that slow my role. I continue to push forth with tremendous effort.
Rodney: Tell me about the man who is making a name for himself in local St. Louis R&B?
De Andre: Well, I am a humble, energetic, life-filled individual who spreads love to others by using my gift to sing.
Rodney: What projects you working on now?
De Andre: My latest project is called “Due Season”. It's a mixture of my feelings that developed through personal experiences. Now I'm encouraging all men to be good to their families. A man that finds a wife finds a good thing...
Rodney: How is your family life?
De Andre: My family life is pretty good. My kids are getting big, they got talent, and I'm about to tap in to that. My relationship with my daughter Armoni is not really in good standing because of the relationship with her mother and me. This industry demands your time and sacrifice is a must, but I have to be strong and move forth with all of me so that that door would be opened for them. That's my job. I love my kids and I work hard to make sure that they are safe at all times.
Rodney: What are your strongest lyrics?
De Andre: My strongest lyrics are from my song F.A.M.E. It describes how important it is to persevere. No matter what your gift is, put your best foot forward. Use or lose it.
Rodney: Name a few St. Louis talents who inspire you?
De Andre: My Inspirations come from Chuck Berry, Tina Turner, Nelly and the Lunatics, P-Dub, Chingy, Ebony Eyes, Guccio, Jus Bleezy, The All-Stars, J-Kwon, Huey, etc. These names are just a few of the ones that have inspired me along the way because I feel as though they paved the way. Everyone has their season. Mine is underway.
Rodney: Do you see a Grammy Award in your near future?
De Andre: I see about 5 Grammys’ in my near future. SERIOUSLY!!!
Rodney: Thanks for your time and I look forward to seeing you this Wednesday at my anniversary show.
De Andre: No Doubt. I look forward to a wonderful time bro...
