One of the first pound cakes was created by the British which included dried fruits. Southerner’s adapted that recipe in the 1700’s making it one of the most popular dessert cakes served at home and in restaurants.

Pound cake can be baked in many different shaped pans but today the loaf pan is the most commonly one used. The cake is much easier to slice and can be equally divided between the number of people being served.
