According to Harris County Republican Party Chairman Jarod Woodfill, negotiators are preparing for the Tuesday court hearing in Perez v. Texas. State Attorney General Greg Abbott and Texas Republican Party chair Steve Munisteri are among those who will need to help resolve the issue. One of the maps under consideration would result in a loss of two republican seats in the Harris County delegation. Woodfill points out that the Harris County Republican Party had the most successful election cycle in its 61 years. He described the decrease in republican representation from the largest republican county in the state as “unacceptable.
