When I first opened the package of Broadway Nails nail dress stick-on wraps, I eyed them a bit skeptically. They were totally cute (a retro flowered pattern), but I had serious doubts about whether these sticker-like things would actually stay on my nails.
I applied the nail dress while watching an old episode of Californication. Lesson 1: Don't try to do anything with your nails when you're a) watching something funny, and b) watching something that involves attractive men. I had to keep reminding myself to look down at my nails, not up at Duchovny on TV.
Each individual nail dress was pretty easy to peel off the backing. It wasn't difficult to choose the right size nail dress for each nail, either--there were 28 wraps in 14 different sizes. (I only wish there had been a wrap that fit my thumb better--the bottom of my thumbnail is more square than round, and the bottom of any wrap that fit my thumb was round and wasn't fitting exactly right.)
I got lucky that my wraps had a rather busy pattern. I wasn't able to apply them absolutely perfectly, so a couple of my nails had tiny wrinkles on the sides. Because of the nail dress pattern, the wrinkles are barely noticeable. The package instructions said to apply the nail sticker and then use the pink side of the little file that came with the nail wraps to smooth the wrap down, but I actually had better luck smoothing the wrap down with my fingers. The black side of the file came in handy when I needed to file away the excess wrap from the top of my nail. By filing in a downward motion, I was able to file away the end of the sticker so that the sticker that was affixed to my nail fit that nail perfectly.
The nail dress looked totally cute once I had finished applying them to all ten fingers. I finished my Californication and went to sleep--and then my first thought upon waking was, "Uh-oh, are these nails going to last through my shower?"
They did. They lasted through me washing my hair and body, and they didn't fade or get gross when soap or water hit them. They also held up perfectly through at least 10 hand washings and one relaxing bath. Water doesn't seem to damage these nail wraps in any way.
I've worn the nail dress for over 24 hours now, and only one nail (one of my index fingers) looks at all worn. Since Broadway Nails gives you plenty of extra nail wraps per pack, if that one continues to get worn while the other nails look fine, I'll just re-do the wrap on my index finger I'm pleased to report that the stickers are not peeling off my nails and that the adorable design hasn't faded at all, either.
I was skeptical at first, but Broadway Nails nail dress stick-on wraps were definitely a pleasant surprise. I keep looking down at my nails and smiling--they look so cute! Because of how easy they were to apply and how fun they look on my fingers, I'll definitely be buying more of these. I'd recommend them for anyone who wants fun nails but hates the smell of nail polish, or wants the look of nail art without having to go to the salon.
Broadway Nails nail dress stick-on wraps are $5.49 per pack; you can buy them at several chains of stores in New York, including Walgreens, Walmart, Rite Aid and K-Mart. You can also purchase them online at www.beautyonlinesupply.com.
