It's easy for them to stay in power in communist countries. In North Korea the throne is inherited by the son of the current dictator. In Cuba, an ailing Fidel Castro just hands power over to his healthier borther, Rual. But in our country, we elect the president. So it is possible that the Obamas have a plan to stay in power for a long time despite that?
While President Barack Obama has continued his perpetual campaigning as president, despite just being reelected, guess who else seems to be campaigning? His wife, the First Lady, Michelle Obama. Michelle Obama is becoming more a politicians, sooner, and more blatantly, than Hillary Clinton did during the term of her husband's presidency. There is already speculation, and even inclusion into polls of the notion of Michelle Obama running for president in the future. President Barack Obama is barred by the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution to run for president again, but that doesn't stop Michelle Obama from running for president.
There is an example of how this was done at the state level. George Wallace had served several terms as governor of Alabama, so the state constitution was amended to limit a governor to two consecutive terms. So Wallace just had his wife run. She got elected, and everyone know that George Wallace was actually running the state through his wife. They barred him to run again so his wife ran instead and they remained in power that way.
Basically, if they could convince the voters to elect Michelle Obama as president, Barack Obama would still (literally, as the “First Man”) be in the White House. Michelle would actually be president but the Obamas, who are in power now, would still be in power.
Would they run Michelle in 2016 when Hillary Clinton is supposedly going to run? Would they have yet another civil war in the Democratic Party by running Michelle against Hillary in the primaries in 2016? If they think they can win it, they no doubt will do it. But if not, they could easily have Michelle follow the Hillary route to the presidency. They'd let Hillary serve ONE term as president and have Michelle get elected senator in Illinois in 2014 or 2016 in order to have more experience and “gravitas” to run for president in 2020. That would allow the possibility that Michelle Obama could serve two terms as president, and the Obama will have been in power 16 out of 20 years between 2009 and 2029. In the summer of 2028, the Obama's older daughter Malia will turn 30, five years too young to be Constitutionally eligible to run for president. Maybe that will allow Chelsea Clinton to serve two terms.
You say this scenario or anything like it is completely absurd? Would ten years ago would have believed than an unknown, first term freshman United States Senator from Illinois who had only been senator for months, would start a campaign for president and actually get elected?
We had a chance to end this three ring political circus last November by booting Barack Obama out of the White House and electing Mitt Romney. If we don't learn our lesson after eight years of Obama's failed presidency, we'll easily fall for keeping this regime in power for several more terms. The best way save the country from an Obama dynasty is to elect a Republican president next time, regardless of whether the nominee is Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, Rand Paul or Rick Santorum.
