A Pinterest wedding

Any bride-to-be in the process of planning their wedding will look high and low for ideas from magazines, websites, and through friends and family to incorporate into their own wedding ceremony and reception. As costs continuously rise for everything from catering to venues and bridal gowns – it has become imperative to find ways to cut costs and find “creative” ways to make your wedding memorable, original, and to get the biggest bang for your buck.

Since Pinterest’s inception in 2009, this pin board-style photo website sharing site has become a mecca for brides looking for wedding ideas. For those of you who are not familiar with Pinterest, the idea is that you can collect “pins” – links to photos and websites which are in the form of a snapshot that usually clearly displays what the link or photo represents and save it to your page for future reference. You can add friends to your page and follow their pin board collections, browse for inspiration, and at the same time people can also follow your pin boards for ideas too. When you click on a snapshot also known as (aka) a pin, Pinterest will open that link in another web tab for you to view. Best part is that it’s free to sign up for a Pinterest account, you can download the app onto your smartphone, and you can even share your pins onto your Facebook page!

With an easy search feature, a good starting point is to start your search under weddings which you will find via the categories link located at the top and center of the home page. Any pins that are tagged wedding related will filter through this category, and you will be surprised at all of the wonderful ideas you will come across that you never even thought of. The amount of information you will come across can be overwhelming, but you can always pin something that catches your eye and review the web link in more detail when you have the time. More detailed search topics include wedding photo pose ideas, bridal gowns, flowers, décor, cake, invitation ideas, and fun DIY projects that can save you big money on your wedding day.

Keep in mind that the Pinterest website is not just for wedding ideas – it’s great for cooking recipes, fashion ideas, beauty tips, do-it-yourself home projects, and crafts. I hope this gets you excited to see all the wonderful ideas that Pinterest and its members have to offer.
