A Passion for Pasta in Burbank

Mushroom Ravioli with sauteed mushrooms at CPK

If you're craving pasta here's the best and worst restaurants for vegetarians that downtown Burbank has to offer!

Two Thumbs Up!

Market City Caffe: Along with their regular pasta dishes, they make homemade ravioli on-site every day. You can't get more fresh than that and Thursday they serve a delicious mushroom ravioli.  Located right downtown, it's the perfect place to stop in as you stroll around downtown for some delicious pasta!

Corner Bakery Cafe: With more locations all the time this fabulous Bakery has expanded to include salads, pizza, paninis and pastas on their menus. The half-moon cheese ravioli is delicious! And the penne in vegetarian marinara is yummy, too.

California Pizza Kitchen
: I know they are everywhere, but CPK is also very vegetarian friendly. They have a fabulous mushroom ravioli among their pastas and pizzas, along with over half a dozen pasta dishes that offer the option of adding meat, so those of us those are vegetarian can have all the yummy pasta we want and not pay for the meat we don't!

CPK is also very accommodating if you want more veggies in your food. For example, if you add mushroom and broccoli to your four cheese ravioli (or any other pasta dish) you will only be charged a small amount (around 80 cents) for each. BONUS for Parents: If you have a small child, too young to order off the menu, even if they only share your dish they will get their own beverage free of charge.

Two Thumbs Way Down:

Olive Garden: In addition to a very limited menu for vegetarians, they will force you to pay for the meat you don't want if you order anything else on the menu, which is no longer the standard. If you decide you want veggies in your pasta, for example mushrooms and broccoli tossed into your fettuccine alfredo, you are going to pay over $3 for each as they are considered a side.

Don't waste your time complaining to management about paying over $19 for a dish that wouldn't, and shouldn't, cost more than $12-14 at any other restaurant, the manager (and corporate headquarters themselves) will simply shrug and claim it's the policy while they take your money.
