Tampa Bay and Mahaffey Theater continue making a comeback with known names in the Latin entertainment world and what a better occasion on Valentine’s Day weekend. Olga Tañón and Charlie Cruz will light up the elegant and intimate Mahaffey Theater on Sunday, February 12 starting at 7:00 p.m.
Charlie Cruz who saw Tampa as his temporary home a salsero from Naguabo, Puerto Rico now living in San Juan has two nominations in the upcoming Premio Lo Nuestro awards on Univsion: Tropical Genre Album of the Year for his album‘Sigo Aqui’ and for Tropical Salsa Artist of the Year. Charlie emerged to the music realm with his first hit in 1999 ‘Bombón de Azúcar’. He has garnered seven top ten hits on Billboard’s Tropical charts and continues with success as a young artist. Get ready for ‘Tú Me Confundes’, ‘Amarte Es Un Problema’, ‘Necesito Más De Tí’ that are just a few of of Charlie Cruz’ songs he’ll be performing. (contines after ad)
As for Olga Tañón, the Puerto Rican ‘Mujer de Fuego’ (Woman of fire) as she’s been called since the beginning of her 20 years or so career will be the merenguera for the evening. Olga performed years ago at Tampa’s Egypt Temple Shrine (Shriners) and a downtown club. Since then she’s climbed the music charts and has received numerous music nominations and awards – 26 top 10 hit singles, five Latin Grammys. Join Olga with ‘Muchacho Malo’, ‘Basta Ya’, ‘Como Olvidar’, ‘El Frio De Tú Adiós’, ‘Es Mentiroso’… for a contagious and rhythmic night.
