Now that the new year has come in, this is always a good time to just start over, wipe the slate clean and try to get it right this time. It's a good time to get a few things in order that will help you have a better outlook on life and could even add some healthy benefits as well. An excellent starting point is making it a priority to eat healthier, exercise a little more and maybe try looking at things in a more positive light, not seeing the glass as half empty, but half full. Here are a few points to help you put things into perspective:
Be thankful. Be constantly thankful for everything. It is a good and wise thing to count your blessings, daily. Practice to walk constantly in a spirit of thankfulness not ungratefulness because it could be gone in a matter of a few seconds.
Meditate more on what you have instead of the things that you don't have. It is easy to focus on what's missing in our lives but if you just look around and listen, you will most likely find a lot of people who are often worse off than you are. Some people have lost every material thing , some have even lost loved ones. The material things can be replaced but the loved ones cannot. Tell the people around you that you love and care about them, do something extra nice for someone , in other words, a random act of kindness, this is good all year long.
Give of yourself. No matter how much or how little you have, giving someone your time can mean all the world to that person. You never know what a person is going through or have just come out of, and saying hello with a smile can make someone's broken day because you acknowledged them.
Worry less because you cannot control everything or everybody. It's one thing to be concerned about situations but if you cannot change whatever is uncomfortable to you, what good will it do to worry about it? Worry can cause overwhelming stress, and even premature death. Learn to change what you can and stop worrying about the things that you cannot change.
