Head's up! There's a new artist market in town! The Burren in Davis Square, Somerville (247 Elm Street) has started a bi-weekly show: Saturday Local Artist Market (S.L.A.M.). Be there this coming Saturday, February 13th, 12-4pm, to find the perfect last minute Valentine's Day gifts and cards for your sweetheart, and support your local artist community too.

The Burren is an Irish pub first opened in 1996 by a pair of young musicians. Hosting an artist market seems like a natural extension of the establishment's support of the arts and local culture.

About the show, organizer Mary Keane says, "The Saturday Local Artist Market (S.L.A.M.), offers local artists a place to show and sell their work as well as an opportunity for the public to find a wide variety of art and handmade goods in one location." In addition to the artist market there will be live music and $5 lunch specials too. Yumm.

This coming Saturday will be the second event hosted by The Burren, and as with each bi-weekly display, S.L.A.M. will be showcasing work in a variety of media including painting, photography, jewelry, book binding, handmade soaps, glass, textiles, ceramics. This Saturday will have the addition of a special Valentine's Day feature with many exhibitors displaying holiday themed items including art, paper goods, and jewelry especially for your valentine.
