He took him outside and said, "Look up at the heavens and count the stars." Genesis 15:5
Abraham needed a different perspective, away from his usual surroundings. I believe that God had Abraham look at the stars as if to say to him 'Look at this. See these stars and how each one is where I placed it? There is so much I can do in your life, if you let Me.'
When was the last time you had a different perspective? When was the last time you took your children someplace, away from home, and looked at the stars? When was the last time you went outside of your normal surroundings and contemplated; just maybe, God wanted you to have something more?
If you have never done this, if you have never taken a day trip, or maybe even a few days away with your children, you should consider it. Maybe you don't have enough money to take a long trip, but for most of us in the U.S. there are numerous campgrounds and parks within a few hours of our homes. What about visiting an observatory? Why not try something new, something different? I encourage you to consider this; I want you to make a plan.
Don't let your current financial situation determine how you will live. Ask God to provide for this adventure for you and your children. Save towards it - even $5, $10 or $20 a month will add up quickly.
You will be amazed at the difference a new perspective will give you. You will appreciate the bonding that takes place with your children when you are in different surroundings. And, who knows, maybe God has something to say to you...but He needs to get you in a different place.
