It is Valentine’s Day weekend and that, of course, means that a sappy, simplistic love story designed to be the perfect date movie will come out this weekend. However, this time around, it also means that the latest action movie to star Bruce Willis is also hitting theaters and another adaptation of a young adult fiction novel hits the screens.
Here are the movies coming out February 14 and 15, 2013:
Safe Haven - Josh Duhamel, Cobie Smulders, Julianne Hough. The latest movie to be adapted from a Nicholas Sparks romance novel follows pretty much the same formula as all of this other novels. A mysterious woman arrives in a small town in North Carolina and starts to put down some roots and, before long, to kindle a romance with a local man. Then, her past catches up with her, threatening her new life and her new love. Rated PG-13.
Beautiful Creatures - Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson, Alice Englert. The latest movie that is trying to become the next Twilight series features witches instead of vampires this time around. A local boy falls in love with a beautiful, but mysterious young girl. It turns out she is a witch and part of a family of witches, and when she reaches a certain age she has to decide if she will remain good or turn to the dark side. And, of course, there are forces at work that are trying to push her one way or the other. Can she maintain her romance or will she accept her power, turn dark and destroy humankind? Rated PG-13.
A Good Day to Die Hard - Bruce Willis, Jai Courtney, Cole Hauser. Bruce Willis is back as John McClane and he is, once again taking on terrorists. This time he is in Moscow and he is teaming up with his son to take on terrorists trying to steal a rogue nuclear weapon. What John does not know, however, is that his son Jack is actually a highly trained CIA operative. Now John has to battle terrorists and the Russian mob while also trying not to destroy all of Russia in the process. Lots of explosions and quips follow. Rated R.
Escape from Planet Earth - Brendan Fraser, Rob Corddry, Jessica Alba. This animated family movie is a science fiction comedy. Brendan Fraser voices the hero of the planet Baab Scorch Supernova. He is a blue alien who is known for doing spectacular escapes, daring rescues and amazing feats. One day an SOS comes from a planet reported as being very dangerous. Of course, that ends up being Earth. It turns out that the SOS and the entire plot is a trap set by his arch enemy. Rated PG.
