The first show will feature live music from Orlando singer/songwriter Reggie Williams along with Central Florida’s Laney Jones and Pickens Ivey. “I’m looking forward to playing with Laney Jones and Matt Tonner,” said Reggie Williams. “Those guys are great acts that I was hoping to get to see a lot more around Orlando before they left. I didn’t know it was going to be a series, but it’s awesome that Rhenn (Cahoe of RPR Productions) is being so proactive in the scene! That’s always good to see!”
The Orlando Local Music Examiner had a chance to interview Phil Jahnke with RPR about the new series of shows. “I was approached by my friend Santi (Europa) about possibly hosting a gig at The Peacock Room. Phil Longo (bar manager) has been looking to reach out to more artists and bands to showcase at his bar/venue. After a meeting with Phil, we had decided that I would bring my wonderful production team I am affiliated with (RPR) to host an event every other Wednesday. I think this is going to bring a lot more artists from all over the Central Florida area. The Mills 50 crowd, in my opinion, is very proactive about the arts. It’s a great place to bring a lot of talented people to showcase their music. And since these shows are 21+, it will bring us all types of different people, as well as artists of different genres. I can not be more excited about this opportunity!”
The members of RPR feel that the location of The Peacock Room adds to the whole experience of showcasing bands there. “Fans should head to The Peacock Room on Wednesdays because it’s a nice way to celebrate the week and sit back to listen to some great artists,” said Jahnke. “The best part about Mills 50 is that it’s a more diverse crowd of people, looking to explore more musical genres. It’s got a much different vibe than the downtown Orlando area. Free parking (for the most part) and many of Orlando’s finest food establishments are within walking distance. The culture as well has a mass effect on the community as well.”
RPR has always brought a wide selection of different artists together for their showcases. “The artists that we (RPR) are looking for would be anyone from acoustic singer-song writers, to bands of all genres,” said Jahnke. “It’s all about the experience at The Peacock Room. You will be taken care of and you will be appreciated for what you do. I firmly believe that. Get ready for a great night of music!”
The new series will be the first and third Wednesdays of the month at The Peacock Room, 1321 N. Mills Ave., Orlando. The shows will be FREE admission and are 21+. The doors open at 9 p.m. and the show starts at 9:30 p.m.
