A new John LeCarre adaptation is on the way

John Le Carre novels seem to be a big deal in Hollywood lately (but really what novel isn't thanks to the lack of original ideas by Hollywood writers), and a new adaptation is on the way.

First we had “The American,” and then “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” and now Justin Kurzel (“The Snowtown Murders”) will be bringing us “Our Kind of Traitor.”

An impressive cast has already been assembled, and Screen Daily got the new plot synopsis yesterday: Ewan McGregor (“Salmon Fishing in the Yeoman”) will star in the international spy thriller as one half of a couple who gets mixed up with a Russian oligarch and major money launderer (Mads Mikkelsen (“Casino Royale”)). Caught up in his plans to defect, they are soon positioned between the Russian Mafia and the British Secret Service.”

Ralph Fiennes (“Skyfall”) will play U.K. government fixer Hector Meredith.

There is no word yet as to who will be in the female lead, but apparently the role wasn't good enough for Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”) who passed on the project.

If the previous movies have taught me anything it is that this will be a boring, but interested and well-acted, movie.
