Good news Borderlands 2 fans, the next character DLC will be available sometime “very soon” according to a Gearbox panel at South by Southwest 2013. The bad news for Borderlands fans is that character DLC is separate from campaign DLC, you will not get this new character if you have a season pass.
At the time of writing, very little information has been officially released outside of a trailer shown at SXSW. According to the short video, the new character either is or is somehow related to an escaped experiment (possibly made by bad-guy Hyperion Corporation’s research in the mutative properties of Slag,) that’s big, fast, and conjures memories of what Aliens: Colonial Marines was supposed to be like. Hearsay is that the new character is melee-oriented but considering the game already has Zero, this feels unnecessarily redundant. However given Gearbox’s turnaround time between announcement and release with previous DLCs, answers are almost guaranteed to be coming in the next few weeks.
