It was a day full of sunshine, but just before sunset we had some mid-level clouds push in thanks to a mid-level impulse pushing through the region; despite that we reached a high of 46 degrees at the airport(set at 3:30pm) after a low this morning of 25. That's pretty much on par with where we should be this time of year(42/27) and although there was no rain nor snow showers today we are 13" above average for rainfall this year(54.69" vs. the average of 41.15").
We had high pressure on top of today and guess what? It sticks around for tomorrow as well! Although we had a west wind on Friday(as temperatures were just in the middle 40s) we will have a southwest wind on Saturday pumping in milder air from the south; this means that highs will get into the lower and middle 50s with sunshine mixed with some higher clouds. A PERFECT DAY indeed! You don't get many of these in the Winter so you have to enjoy it! Unfortunately Saturday is the only decent weekend day as on Sunday we will have a quick moving coastal low slide up I-95, ensuring it's all rain with highs around 50; despite it being gone by the overnight hours we can still see over an inch of rain out this system. Behind that low a cold front will sweep through early Monday morning(it's helping to guide the low offshore) and temperatures will be dropping through the day! This will lead to New Year's Eve being very cold thanks to an Arctic blast with highs on either side of freezing while New Year's Day we won't even make it to freezing....AND on top of that there will be a weak clipper system coming through to provide some snow showers to ring in 2014!
So all in all, enjoy the warm weather while it lasts! You can check out the 7-day forecast any time at www.scottderekwx.com/forecast.html.
