"For over a year, I’ve had an amazing experience playing piano and organ at the historical Wesley Church in downtown Minneapolis. For a long time, the church (New Harmony) had a cat named Cat," writes pianist Steve C in a recent blog update.
Cat has found a home, but there are many other furry friends that need a caring place to stay.
Steven C will be performing a benefit concert at the historic New Harmony church in Minneapolis on Friday, February 24. Proceeds from the event will be used by two non-profit, no kill rescue and adoption groups (Feline Rescue and Caring for Cats) to continue their mission of helping cats in need. Some of the money raised will also help New Harmony Church continue to build its mission of being an all-inclusive Methodist ministry.
Steven C's music has been described as music that carries a message, creating pictures and telling stories. He has been classically trained, but composes in various styles. For seven years, he was the keyboardist for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He has also shared a stage with Mannheim Steamroller.
Steven C has released several CDs, which include his own compositions and familiar piano tunes in Steven C style. Friday night, you will have the opportunity to hear both Steven C originals and adaptations of some familiar and fun piano music.
Given the theme of the evening, Steven C concludes his recent blog post by saying, "yes, I promise to play 'Memory' from Cats!"
This event is all ages, $15 per ticket, children under 10 are admitted for free. The event begins at 7:30pm at New Harmony Church (formerly Wesley Church), 101 E Grant Street, Minneapolis, Friday, February 24.
