The Fourth of July holiday is always something to look forward to, especially in the mitten.

I was back in Los Angeles last week and was asked by a stranger at the bar, “What do people do in Michigan?” I sort of stumbled around the answer, probably giving off the impression that I’m some kind of hermit that doesn’t leave the house! My response was something along the lines of, “pretty much the same things as here, minus the surfing.” Then I babbled on about the lakes and boating and retreating ‘up north.’

Whether you’ll be jet skiing, boating, sitting poolside or running through the sprinkler? - chances are high that you’ll be wearing less clothing than normal. What does that mean? You really should assess your bikini area needs NOW. (You don’t want to be the one confined to shorts because of a disastrous wax job or lack thereof!)

Enter Spa Juliana. This place was such a breath of fresh air and I was thrilled to walk in the door (and out too; I highly recommend Kelly for a wax).

You know when you move...and you’re totally bummed out that you have to find a new hair stylist, doctor...well, everything? That is how I have been feeling. I loved my Esthetician at Queen Bee Waxing in Culver City, CA. So the task of finding someone to replace her, just intimidated me. Many may think this to be an exaggeration, saying that a poor hair cut is more detrimental-I challenge you to have an unsatisfactory bikini wax, you’ll understand the importance then.

In regards to any type of waxing, I find it best to wait before booking another appointment...or telling friends. (You want it to last a decent amount of time and be able to walk the next day, right?) That criteria was met and I’ll be coming back here soon...well, I hope not real soon.

P.S. I just missed Kim Cattrall in the spa lounge. I was told that no one recognized her. Ah, only in Michigan!
