Located on the eastern end of the island in Edgartown, The Winnetu Oceanside Resort offers a true escape from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Martha’s Vineyard. Whether you come here and decide to stay for a week at the resort or simply just want to have a great dinner then look no further than this great island getaway. Lure Restaurant, which is located inside the resort, is sure to appeal to the entire crowd uniquely offering both a family friendly and fine dining experience.
Lure is well known for its wide array of fresh “island inspired wood fired” seafood dishes and has received accolades locally and nationally. The restaurant was also featured on Rachael Ray’s Tasty Travels show on The Food Network.
The coolest thing about this restaurant just may be the complimentary sunset water taxi cruise. Jump on board in Edgartown and take a 25-minute boat ride through Katama Bay for some of the best views of both Edgartown and Chappaquiddick from the harbor. Reservations are required so be sure to book your visit well in advance, especially in the summer months.
We started off our dinner with a sampling of the clam chowder. The creamy New England favorite was loaded with tender whole clams and made even more flavorful with applewood smoked bacon. Do not miss the local Katama oysters served with a tasty grapefruit mignonette and watermelon-jalapeno granita. Other appetizers included beet salad, arancini, crab cake, mussels and littlenecks and their famous lobster and bacon mac ‘n’ cheese.
Executive Chef Troy Price has a good selection of beef, seafood and chicken offerings on the menu such as steak frites, roast chicken, lamb pot roast and wild Atlantic salmon. There was even a spring vegetable gnocchi for the vegetarian diner. We sampled the Atlantic halibut, a deliciously flavorful piece of fresh fish made even more savory with a combination of lemons, capers and white wine. The sea scallops were hailed the winner of the table sitting atop a bed of lobster and English pea risotto with a decadently rich bacon and thyme butter sauce. The grilled asparagus with lemon and parmesan side dish was the perfect complement to this wonderful meal.
Unfortunately, we didn’t save room for dessert but the campfire s’mores with marshmallows you toast yourself sounded fun.

I'm afraid I don't agree with the above reviewer. Been to this restaurant during my last stay at the Winnetu. Although the resort is one of the best places to lodge at the Vineyard, its restaurant lacks greatly in many areas. Food choices are minimal and lack luster. The service is amateurish with not very trained serving staff and the wine portions are smaller than average but very expensive. There are so many good restaurants at the Vineyard. Do yourself and your guest a favor, stay away from this one. You'll then truly enjoy Martha's Vineyard.
