A look into Owl's Nook Studio

Nestled between a grove of trees and a creek, proprietor Janet Wood sews in a neat little space in Clare, Michigan. Located mid-mitten, Clare is known as 'the Gateway to the North'. Owl's Nook Studio is named after the small space it occupies and the nearby hooting of owls.

Janet learned to sew from her mother at the age of nine. She has had a few sewing businesses over the years utilizing this wonderful craft. In the 70's she did piecework, making children's Tee Shirts. She sews for her family, enjoys repurposing fabrics and in 2013 designed and handmade lucky pillow animals for Soaring Eagle Casino's bingo players.

Her husband is supportive of her sewing adventures and recently surprised her with a crafty redo of her cutting table. These tables, often purchased at craft stores can become less than sturdy with a lot of use. His remake of the table kept the best features, like rolling wheels and a laminated cutting surface, but improved the design with eight storage drawers and a solidly constructed wooden frame.

As well as making these fantastic tables available for purchase, Owl's Nook Studio will focus on embroidered onsies and specialty baby and children's attire. Visit the studio on Facebook to see what's new.
