A look back at ‘Clockwork Prince’

With the days counting down until the release of Cassandra Clare’s final installment of The Infernal Devices,Clockwork Princess” (March 19) let’s look back at “Clockwork Prince.”

'Clockwork Prince' spoilers below.

“Clockwork Prince” picks up with Tessa and Jem touring Westminster Abbey. I love how Clare weaves real places into her stories, something that has been particularly fun with this Victorian setting. Fans get to experience Clave politics as the council convenes and Charlotte’s run of the London institute is threatened. The love triangle strengthens as Tessa grows closer to Jem, even becoming his fiancé before Will can reveal the reason for is behavior towards her. For me, one of the most tear jerking Shadowhunter Chronicles moment is when Will realizes that his fear of his curse is unwarranted. He is finally on the verge of having true happiness and yet it eludes him.

While, “Clockwork Princess” contains my saddest moment in both series, it also has the scene that made me laugh the hardest. When Will laughs and does his dance about Demon Pox is so funny. “Clockwork Prince” brought tears and laughs with its pages. As the series comes to an end I’m sure the same will be true, if not more so with “Clockwork Prince.”
