On April 5, Legoland California Resort, in Carlsbad, opens it's first lego-themed hotel on the West Coast. The hotel will be an added attraction in itself, starting with the 'dragon-guarded entrance' located at the main entry to the California Legoland Park. A nice feature for families staying here is that they have exclusive early morning access to the theme park.

In the hotel there are over 3,500 Lego models, of which seven of the largest are animated, and include a family of four smoke breathing dragons. At the reception desk guests can view the 6,000 mini-figures adorning the walls, while in the atrium is a knight's castle protected by a giant burping ogre which towers into the clouds as well as a 32-foot high pirate shipwreck that is bursting through the castle walls.
