On April 5, Legoland California Resort, in Carlsbad, opens it's first lego-themed hotel on the West Coast. At the reception desk guests can view the 6,000 mini-figures adorning the walls, while in the atrium is a knight's castle protected by a giant burping ogre which towers into the clouds as well as a 32-foot high pirate shipwreck that is bursting through the castle walls.
The hotels 250 guest rooms are themed for Pirate, adventurer, and knight. They are perfect for families as they have a queen bed for adults and a separate area that accommodates up to 3 children with bunk beds and a pullout bed. The adults have their own TV as do the kids area, which also has about 8 lego models and a treasure chest that the youngsters can unlock - after completing a special treasure hunt from clues in the room. More child-friendly features are the secret whoopee cushions, tight-rope walking marching guards, exploding toy boxes, treasure trails, and quirky themed elevators, which includes a 'disco'elevator' with a mirror ball and flashing lights.
