Cancer Health
Each part of the body is associated with each sign of the zodiac. If you were born between the dates of June 20 through July 22 then the Sun was in this sign when you were born. Cancer rules the breasts, stomach, digestive system, elbows, pancreas and womb. The influence of the Moon tends to make Cancer individuals moody, emotional and lonely at times. Many Cancer individuals suffer mood swings that often coincide with the phases of the Moon, their ruler. Many Cancer individuals experience digestive problems because they are emotional worriers. They are very family oriented people and they enjoy spending time at home. Security and comfort in the home is crucial for Cancer individual’s well-being. If they are living in an unstable home environment they can suffer from many health complaints.
Depression, Mood Changes, Digestive Problems
Cancer individuals are sensitive, caring individuals that are easily hurt. They take things personally and often have trouble letting go of the past. Past hurts can haunt them and turn into bodily complaints such as stomach aches, indigestion and flatulence are common. Cancer's are vulnerable to hypochondria, anxiety and emotional mood swings. Many of them experience depression in their lives. A lot of Cancer clients have shared with me their feelings of sadness, loneliness and depression. Cancer individuals will experience these mood fluctuations throughout their lives and it is a part of their personality. I always tell them to reach out to friends and family members so that they can release some of their repressed emotions. If they feel that their depression is negatively impacting their lives, then I encourage them to see a doctor or therapist to address this issue. Many Cancer individuals snap out of low moods and then feel normal and balanced. Those that love them the most will notice the fluctuations in their mood and will learn how to live with them.
Need for Alone Time
Cancer values their solitude and they enjoy activities where they can be alone. They are artistic individuals and soothing music is good for their emotional health. They are a sign that has to have their alone time. They have to have time by themselves to recover from the stresses of everyday life. They can sometimes escape into their own world and shut others out. When they have been hurt, they can push their loved ones away and put up a strong shell of protection. It is important for Cancer individuals to be alone but not at the expense of avoiding important life issues that need to be addressed. Journaling and writing can be very soothing for Cancer. They will benefit by expressing their strong emotions and fears to those they love. Cooking and doing activities in the home are also excellent ways for them to deal with stress in a healthy way. They have a tendency to overeat and eat when they are emotionally upset. Cancer is known to put on weight easily and they enjoy eating sweets. My grandmother is a Cancer and she loves to eat sweets. Sometimes all she eats all day is cookies, pie, ice-cream and goodies. The way to a Cancer’s heart is through their stomach.
Beneficial Foods
Cancer individuals will benefit by limiting foods with refined sugar such as pastry and yeast producing foods. Fish is much better for Cancer than red meat. They can be vulnerable to yeast infections so they will benefit by eating yogurt and avoiding foods that are yeast producing. They need plenty of water and should drink a lot when they first wake up and then again before bedtime. Cancer should avoid beer and alcohol. Beneficial foods are cabbage, sauerkraut, broccoli, kale, mustard greens, watercress and cauliflower. Potassium deficiency is common with Cancer individuals so they need to make sure to drink fruit and vegetable juices, especially if they are craving salt.
