A look at evening events at libraries in the Albany area

The libraries in the capital region provide invaluable programs and resources to local families. Whether you work full-time or your daytime schedule is too hectic, many of these libraries provide evening activities for you to enjoy quality time with your little one(s). All of them are free and few require preregistration. Here are a few you may want to try:


 


 


 


 



Voorheesville Public Library:

Family Evening Storytimes are for preschool through grade 2. (Registration is requested.) The next one is:


  • Zoo Animals,Tuesday, February 23 at 6:30pm,will feature stories about creatures found in the zoo.


The William K.Sanford Library (in Colonie):

Two special family events coming up. (Registration is requested.):


  • Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (PG) on Wednesday, February 17, at 6:30 PM

  • Doug Bartel’s Magic Show on Thursday, February 18, at 6:30 PM


Guilderland Public Library:


  • Drop-In Storytime on Mondays at 6:30 pm for babies through preschoolers. This time is filled with stories, music, puppets and crafts .


East Greenbush Public Library:


  • Drop-In Story Time on Thursdays at 6:30pm for all ages (January 28th-March 18th). There are stories, music, movies and crafts.

  • Family Movie Night on Friday February 26th at 7pm. Movie TBA.


Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library:


  • Pajama Story Time drop-in program also presented by Diane Payette on Tuesdays, January 26th - March 9th at either 5:45PM or 6:15PM for families with children ages 2-6.


Bethlehem Public Library:


  • Pajama Rama Story Time Thursday, February 4th and Tuesday February 23rd from 7PM-7:45PM for ages 3-6. Listen to stories and dance in your PJs.


Niskayuna Public Library:


  • Family Story Time on 6:30 PM Family Story Time on Tuesday, January 26th, Tuesday, February 23rd and Tuesday, March 30th at 6:30pm. Pajamas are welcome! 


These programs are a perfect way to spend time with your child in the evening and hopefully will make bedtime easier by tiring them out. Many of the libraries have pamphlets that highlight upcoming events and some, like the the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Library, offer an RSS feed to help remind you of upcoming activities.
