A Look At Bret Hart, Brian Pillman, And Davey Boy Smith

We continue our look at the wrestlers who have made it to the WWF (WWE). This group includes two who would become family members. The family is very well-known in wrestling circles. The other wrestler profiled was the tag-team partner of a man who would go on to be very famous in the wrestling world.

Bret Hart was one of my favorite wrestlers ever. He had a clean-cut look and always seemed to appreciate the support of his fans. I was young at the time so I was very impressed with the fact that he would hand off his sunglasses to a young fan in the crowd. Even the fact that he would slap the hands of his fans on the way to the ring made a favorable impression on me. In many cases I was drawn to guys who were larger-than-life. Bret was certainly not one of those guys. However, I liked them for the same reason that I respected Hart so much. He was portrayed as a good guy who would knock down all the evil that stood in his way. He didn't do it with brute force or atypical strength (like the bigger guys did) but he always got the job done.

If you read anything about Brian Pillman you will undoubtedly come away thinking that the guy belonged more in a nut house than he did a wrestling ring. Look into a lot of the successful wrestlers though and you will think the same thing. However, it seems that Pillman went the extra mile to help distinguish himself. There just was something not right with the guy. Mix this with his crazy energy and you have a lethal combination. You might remember that for a time he was part of a tag-team with Steve Austin. Austin meant something different to the world then compared to what he would eventually become. It was kind of like a Kurt Warner transformation. Pillman and Austin were quite the team though. They were a good mix at the time. The act that Austin pulled off later in his career and made him one of the most famous wrestlers ever would not have worked with Pillman as part of their gimmick was the fact that they had full heads of blonde hair.

The "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith was a very big guy. He was very solid with muscle packed on him. He married into the Hart family and that definitely added to his legacy as well as increasing the group that was known by only their last name in the wrestling world. In fact, he was probably the most physically impressive of the group. The others either did not have his size or they were not as ripped as him. When you're included in a group with other prominent wrestlers and you are easily the strongest of them all, that is quite a feat.
