A little bit of Hollywood (United) coming to Bremerton this weekend

Actor Gilles Marini has been a guest player with Hollywood United over the last year, but isn't expected to feature when the club plays the Portland Timbers U23's this Saturday at 1:30 PM in Bremerton in the PDL Western Conference Finals.. (Flickr.com photo from -kj)

When the Kitsap Pumas host the 2010 PDL Western Conference Finals this weekend in Bremerton a little bit of Hollywood will be coming to West Sound. Hollywood United FC's Hitmen, to be precise.

HUFC have become famous in recent years for not only their hometown locale but also for their willingness to sign and play Hollywood actors. While it doesn't look like any well-known actors are on the Hitmen for the playoffs, you never know who might show up when Hollywood comes to town.

One of the more high profile actors to play for Hollywood United is Gilles Marini, who rocketed to fame with a nude shower scene in the first "Sex and the City" movie. Marini is not listed as having any playing time with the Hitmen in 2010.

However, the Hitmen do have a highly competitive roster that has led them to a 10-3-3 record in the PDL, and of course a trip north for the playoffs where they will face the undefeated Portland Timbers U23's at 1:30 PM this Saturday at Bremerton Memorial Stadium.

The Hitmen hosted Isidro Metapan earlier this week in California as the El Salvadorian side made their way up to Seattle to face the Sounders in Champions League Qualifying. Metapan edged Hollywood, 1:0.

HUFC faced Southwest Division (and defending PDL) champions Venture County Fusion twice during the regular campaign. The Hitmen were better in both matches coming away with a 3:1 win at Ventura and then shutting out the champs 3:0 in the second meeting at home.

The Hitmen are led by the 11 goals of forward Jaime Chavez. See 2010 club stats here.
