This coming week, March 3-9, in Orlando local music has a little bit of everything in music news and upcoming live performances.

SoulSwitch has until Thursday, March 6 to hit their Kickstarter $10,000 goal. They are almost there! Music fans can check out their campaign page here to see the perks available and help them reach their goal.

Smashington 2014 has a fundraising project up on ArtStarter. They are hoping to raise $5,000 by April 22 to make this event the best it can be. Visit their campaign here.

Tuesday is the official release day for Ideal ZerO’s new CD, “In Perfect Darkness” and the first video for the CD, “Before We Drown,” will also be released. Luckily it all happens on line so music fans won’t have to miss a thing.

Also on Tuesday is the CD Release Show for Her Blank Canvas’ “Winter Hell.” Their release show will be at Bombshell’s Tavern with Ice Nine Kills, For All I Am, Cursed Sails, Sylar, Not Tonight Josephine, The Knowing Within and From Mortals To Monsters.

On Wednesday and Thursday music fans can check out Orlando based singer Emily Piriz on “American Idol.” She made it through the first elimination round and is now one of the top 12 contestants. Watch the show and make sure to vote and keep her climbing higher.

Thursday The Smiling Bison is kicking off a new monthly series on the first Thursday of the month hosted by singer/songwriter Beth McKee. These special events will include a set of music from McKee, a set by a different spotlight musician of her choice and then a collaborative performance from both. This week’s special guest is singer/songwriter Tina Nicole.

On Saturday at The House of Blues is the CD release show for The Jonnie Morgan Band’s “Janus.” Also on the bill are Evan Taylor Jones, Empire Theory and Emily Kopp.

Sunday at The BackBooth is the CD release show for “Keep Doing What You’re Doing” from You Blew It!. Also playing the show are Dikembe, Frameworks, Prawn and Special Explosion.

Monday, March 3

The Social - 54 North Orange Ave. - Live music from The Bright Light Social Hour and SWIMM for this 18+ show. Tickets are $12.50 on advance or $15 at the door. The doors open at 8 p.m.

Tanqueray’s - 100 S. Orange Ave. - Live music from Control This! at 10:30 p.m. for this FREE 21+ show.

BB Kings Blues Club - 9101 International Dr. - Live music from Blue Stone Circle from 7:30-11:30 p.m.

Downtown Credo Cafe - 706 W. Smith St. – Songwriter’s Stage 28 open mic competition at 7 p.m. Each act performs two original songs and a panel of judges chooses three finalists for the night. The three finalists then perform one more song each with the judges choosing the top winner for a cash prize and recording time with Emissary Studios. Performers are judged in five different areas - songwriting, vocal performance, playing ability, stage presence and audience response. Email songwriters@downtowncredo.com for slots.

West End Trading Company - 202 S. Sanford Ave. (Sanford) - RPR presents open mic hosted by Thrillan Dylan with Rhenn Again at 8 p.m. This FREE event is 18+.

Liam Fitzpatrick's Restaurant & Irish Pub - 951 Market Promenade Ave. (Lake Mary) - The Acoustic Sessions open mic every Friday night at 10 p.m. hosted by singer/songwriter Daniel Taylor.

Tuesday, March 4

Bombshell’s Tavern - 5405 Edgewater Dr. - BookedPro presents live music from Ice Nine Kills, For All I Am, Cursed Sails (ex-Woe, Is Me), Sylar, Not Tonight Josephine, The Knowing Within, From Mortals To Monsters and Her Blank Canvas for this all ages show. This is the CD Release Show for Orlando band Her Blank Canvas’ “Winter Hell.” The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.

The Red Lion Pub - 3784 Howell Branch Road - Twisted Tuesday with Control This! for this 18+ show. This FREE event includes live music and other entertainment as well as a home-cooked meal, with a donation to the Red Lion Community Emergency Fund. The live music starts at 7:30 p.m.

Will’s Pub - 1042 N. Mills Ave. - Punching Babies presents live music from Iron Chic, Teen Agers, The New Lows and Among Giants for this 18+ show. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. The doors open at 8 p.m.

West End Trading Company - 202 S. Sanford Ave. (Sanford) - Live music from Tex Railer’s Doomtown and Six Time Loser for this show. The doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 and there's a $3 additional charge for under 21.

The Social - 54 North Orange Ave. - Live music from G. Love & Special Sauce and Kristi Lee for this 12+ show. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.

Dexter’s Winter Park - 558 W. New England Ave. - Live acoustic music from the Holcomb Brothers at 6:30 p.m.

Jazz Tastings - 164 Lake Ave. (Maitland) - Live music from the John Valeri Quartet at 7 p.m.

The Red Lion Pub - 3784 Howell Branch Road - The Writer’s Circle, an open circle workshop and collaboration of song, poetry and comedic writers at 9 p.m. hosted by Orlando singer/songwriter Laine Breeden.

Thursday, March 6

Smiling Bison - 745 Bennett Road - Singer/songwriter Beth McKee will host a new songwriter series here every first Thursday of the month. Each night of the series will include a set of music from Beth McKee, a set by a different spotlight musician of McKee’s choice and a collaborative performance from both. This week’s special guest is singer/songwriter Tina Nicole. Table reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling 407-898-8580. There is no cover charge for this event.

Will’s Pub - 1042 N. Mills Ave. - Live music from Two Cow Garage, Matt Woods with Larry Fulford on drums, Join Hands and Johnny Knuckles for this show. The doors open at 8 p.m.

BackBooth - 37 W. Pine St. - Norsekorea presents and For-Your-Friends-Booking present live music from Comeback Kid, Backtrack, Xibalba, Downpresser and To The Wind for this show. The doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets are $13 in advance.
