If you’re looking to make a homemade appetizer that doesn’t require chopping, blending, pureeing, or missing your favorite TV show, this olive tapenade “dip” is a great way to go.
This quick and ever-so-easy recipe takes only minutes to prepare and makes a unique dip to bring as an appetizer to a party or to serve guests at your own home. This dip will prove its popularity when saddled amongst the typical chips and fatty dips that tend to make an appearance at dinner parties (Ranch dressing and anything, anyone?) This olive dip also makes for a healthy and light treat when the time of day to snack a bit comes around.
• 2 cans of chopped olives
• 1 to 2 cloves of garlic per can
• 1 to 2 tbls of extra virgin olive oil per can
• 1 ½ tablespoons of capers
• A few pinches of dried or fresh rosemary
• A pinch of red pepper flakes and 2 drops of hot sauce (optional)
Mix everything together in a large bowl and serve cold. Enjoy with whole wheat crackers, garlic and rosemary toasts, or crunchy crudités.
For the best quality in taste, it’s recommended that the dip is prepared several hours in advance of eating, letting the oil and juice from the capers marinate with the olives for a more robust flavor in each bite.
