The Florida State Seminoles came out on top of the final AP poll after defeating the Auburn Tigers 34-31 in a BCS Championship Game that was an instant classic on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014. After the game, FSU quarterback Jameis Winston gave a winded and excited speech about winning the championship. Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron's mom didn't think much of his speech at all
As a matter of fact, Dee Dee McCarron posted a tweet that showed she didn't think much of the way that Winston publicly spoke. After listening to his speech, Dee Dee McCarron tweeted:
"Am I listening to English?"
She quickly deleted the tweet, but a number of people were able to get a screenshot and that allowed her comment to go viral.
Sure, Winston's speech wasn't the best thing in the world as far as proper grammar is concerned, and it was ripped apart by the Internet. The only problem with McCarron is that she is a bit of a public figure and her comments are going to be scrutinized more.
Katherine Webb, A.J. McCarron's girlfriend, also had plenty to say on Twitter as she also criticized Winston's speech:
"Jameis Winston needs to learn sign language to communicate because listening to him attempt to speak English is just insulting."
McCarron's mom has since apologized for her tweet and said she never meant to offend anyone. She also wanted to point out that her family is not racist. Winston decided to tweet in response to all those that had something to say about the way he talks.
"For the people that criticize the way that I talk this is for y'all. The Florida state Seminoles are national champions! That is all."
