A. J. Long commits to Syracuse

A.J.Long was very impressed with everything about Syracuse University.

So much so that Long has committed to the Orangemen.

"I'm very excited about going up there and their coaches were very real with me and told me what I needed to hear," Long said.

Long (6-2, 190) led the Commanders to the Class 2A State Championship as he accounted for 2,946 yards and 51 touchdowns in Friendship's 13-1 season.

He tossed 39 touchdowns against only one interception for 2,272 yards on the season.

Long chose the Orangemen over UCLA, Arizona, Ohio University, Appalachian State and UMass.

He is Syracuse's second commitment of the Class of 2014 and is the sixth commitment in the state of Tennessee to commit early.

He joins Beech running back Jalen Hurd (Tennessee), Knoxville Webb safety Todd Kelly Jr. (Tennessee), Independence Athlete Vic Wharton (Tennessee), MBA defensive tackle Jashon Robertson (Vanderbilt) and Westwood Athlete Nikia Cathey (Mississippi State).
