A.J. Feeley to Patriots rumors cooling?

The Patriots have been rumored to be interested in A.J. Feeley for the better part of the last week. When they released Andrew Walter, most people just assumed it was to open the door for Feeley.

Most people, apparently, were wrong. At least if you believe ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Schefter (whose word is gospel, as far as I’m concerned) says that there will be no trade between the two teams for the backup quarterback.

No word on whether it’s the Patriots or the Eagles who aren’t interested.

If the Patriots think the Eagles are going to have to release Feeley at 6:00pm tonight anyway, they might be playing hardball. Or they may not be interested.

It’s one of the joys of covering the New England Patriots. We can all guess, but none of us know what they’re going to do until they do it…

Meanwhile, Damon Huard is still an option.

The New Orleans Saints just released Joey Harrington, who could be a decent one-year option (yes, I know, he’s Joey Harrington).

Cleo Lemon still hasn’t signed anywhere. As you know, the Patriots had interest in him earlier in the preseason but the two sides couldn’t work out a contract.

I still can’t imagine the Patriots going into the regular season with just Hoyer and Brady, but then, stranger things have happened in New England…

Harrington isn't horrible, he's just played for horrible teams. He'd be a fine backup.
Huard is good, but I still say Bill's waiting to see which Vikes QB is released. Since you have yet to even mention this in any of your articles, I want full credit in your article when it happens...:)

Jackson doesn't fit what the Patriots do. They wouldn't go after a guy like that. Feeley was just released. I have to think they'll at least kick the tires on him...

But yes, if the Pats sign someone from the Vikings, I'll mention you by name in the article. :)
