Sometimes we become confused on career, success and what we want out of life. But as all career advisers have said over and over again, networking is the key to our success. Not only do we meet new people, places and things but through our experiences, our environments, our associations and the consistency that we build, it also builds our reputation. That can be good or bad depending how others continuously view it. And reputation is difficult to change.
How can a strong reputation in business or any industry be established even if you are just starting out in the career world? Being integral in everything that you do whether it be in a college competition or volunteer project. Show a sincere attempt to help others and care about the team in whatever environment you find yourself. Develop references that will account for your ability to see others blossom by your efforts. Watch what attributes you are endorsed for on your LinkedIn profile. You may not be aware of a special gift that you can share in the workplace. Make sure your Facebook page offers your strong character traits; though it may be a personal page, stay away from controversial subjects that may hurt your ability to be diverse. Strive, strive, to learn and grow constantly. Don't hold back on technology and new idea.
The more you present yourself with professionalism, grace, a positive outlook to almost anything, anyone. the more opportunity shows up. And make sure others can give examples of how you have been an effective leader even during a struggle.
When your life is flashing in front of you years later, as someone told me, your life will be worth watching and not just another bad horror movie.
Your peace, contentment and dedication will be all it takes for others to recognize your talent. The world, may then, my friends...be yours!
