Several Metro area shelters and rescue groups are holding “Home for the Holidays” events this holiday season. Why not get into the holiday spirit by adopting or fostering a homeless pet? Here is more information about just a few local events:
The Austin Humane Society is offering discounted adoption fees December 17th, 18th and 19th. For only $20, you can adopt one of the shelter’s more than 200 cats, dogs, kittens and puppies. The Austin Humane Society is open from 12 pm to 7 pm on Friday and Saturday and 12 pm to 5 pm on Sunday. For more information, visit them at 124 W. Anderson Ln. or visit their website.
Austin Pets Alive! is holding its own home for the holidays adoption event this weekend. On Saturday from 12 pm to 6 pm, cat adoption events will be held at the Ohlen Rd., Bee Cave and Mueller PetSmarts. The Ohlen Rd. PetSmart event will also include a bake sale to benefit APA! On Sunday from 12 pm to 6 pm, a dog and cat adoption event will be held at the APA! Adoption and Resource Center, 2807 Manchaca Rd. The adoption fee for the first ten dogs adopted at the building on Sunday will be reduced by $25. For more information, please visit their website.
The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is offering $50 dog adoptions and $25 cat adoptions now through January 4th. The shelter is also seeking temporary fosters for cats and dogs over the holidays from December 24ththrough January 2nd. For more information, please visit the shelter at 1855 S.E. The Humane Society of Williamson County is also seeking temporary foster homes for its healthy dog residents this holiday season. Although it’s not a “Home for the Holidays” promotion, Love-A-Bull is holding a Photos With Santa fundraiser this Saturday from 1 pm to 5 pm at Southpaws Playschool, 2324B S. Lamar. Both your two and four legged children can have their photo taken with Santa for only $10. You can also pick up some cool Love-A-Bull Merchandise and sign the petition to stop the pit bull ban in Texas. For more information, please visit their website.
