A holster with a window? Not for me!

Others are discussing the NRA endorsement of Harry Reid and John McCain, and NRA's support of a gag bill in the House.

I want to mention something I found at the NRA Store, and the reason I recommend against this item. It is a belt slide holster, with a window for a handgun permit. You can see the ad HERE.

Picture this scenario:

Knoxville's Officer Friendly just got out of the Academy. You are his first ever traffic stop. He steps up to the car, and asks for your Driver's License. You already have it out, hand it to him, and otherwise keep both hands on the wheel. Your 1911 is on your right hip, out of his view, and covered by a shirt. He asks if you are armed, and you say, "Officer, I have a Tennessee Handgun Permit."

He says, "Let me see the Permit."

You reach down with your right hand, sweep the shirt back, and proceed to try and pull the permit out. Noticing your struggle, Friendly leans slightly in, and sees your 1911, in Condition One (cocked and locked). For all he knows, you are trying to unsheath that weapon!

Now, you have the cold steel of a Glock 22 pressing against your ear, he's shaking like Barney Fife, and Officer's last name is no longer Friendly. What happens next is anyone's guess.

Friend, if you get this holster, keep that permission slip in your wallet, not in the holster. That just isn't prudent.

I support the NRA but every once in a while they sure come up with some dumb ideas.

I don't buy this either (pun intended).
Its a money-making gimmick just as those stupid badges at gun shows that advertise one as a "license holder" or whatever.

If your pistola gets stolen from your car, you just gave up your permit to the bad guy, not to metion your address, etc. Not smart.

No wonder why the NRA does not support the concept of 'shall not be infringed.'

It's all about the MONEY they love to lavish on themselves under the guise of 'defending freedom.'

Mt Liberty does not need a permission slip from anyone.

Every once in a while they come up with a dumb idea? As far as the right to keep and bear arms, I can't remember them having a good idea.

I have not had anything make me laugh this hard in ages but thank you for the NRA joke (holster with a window). If the NRA ever wonders why perople with any intelligence avoid the organization i think this holster is the perfect example. Did the same guy who designed this holster also approve that sweetheart deal with the democrats (HR5175)? I am sure he had some say in where they held their convention at the Marriott as well. I have to say one thing, whoever he is he is doing the best job I have ever seen on dismantling an organization through some serious screwups. I wonder what he has on the list for his next trick. If I worked for the NRA I would be looking around for a new job pretty soon since there is still a half of a year left and I am sure the remaining screwups are going to be bigger and better. I wonder if he came from BP?

Can anyone help me out with the meaning of the word "uninfringed"? Why is this word so misunderstood?

Hilarious and tragic at the same time. Thanks for posting about this absurdly bad idea, Liston. Way to go keeping us up to date.
