A healthy tropical fruit

It seems like every day we hear in the news people are getting more sick. Unfortunately, if the immune system is weak your odds for catching the cold or flu increases.

In order to have a healthy immune system in place, we must consume the right foods and nutritional needs must be maintained at all times. When you have a healthy and strong immune system, viruses and bacteria cannot easily attack you. Be sure you're not inviting the enemy into your body by living an unhealthy lifestyle. Remember, they want to take over the host and tear their immune system down. They're the bad guys!

If you have diabetes, it is even more vital to maintain a healthy immune system. When you keep your blood sugars in control, eat the right foods, maintain proper nutrients, drink plenty of alkaline water, detox, exercise, get adequate sleep, reduce stress, and keep a positive attitude your immune system will be equipped to handle the viruses and bacteria. In addition, you can add supplements when your immune system needs additional support.

What tropical fruit can actually aid in the formation of the immune system's killer cells? Here's a clue...monkeys love this tropical fruit. If you guessed the banana you're right!

Bananas contain vitamins B3, B5, B6, and C. They also contain biotin, potassium, magnesium, manganese, and fiber. This tropical fruit not only contains high levels of B-vitamins which are beneficial for individuals with diabetes but can fight off viruses as well.

If you need an energy boost you can eat a banana by itself or add it to your smoothie. This fruit contains fiber and potassium which regulates the nerves and body fluids.

"Let food be your medicine, and medicine your food." ~ Hippocrates
