If you've ever been to the Macaroni Grill, located on Brindle Rd. in Harrisburg, you know that the portion sizes and caloric count have one thing in common. They're enormous! Mounds of endless pasta, copious amounts of melty cheese, and saturated, creamy sauces all add up to a meal that is both detrimental to our health and diet sabotage.
But wait, health conscious eaters, you don't have to turn away from this delectable food just yet! The Macaroni Grill has recently expanded their menu and set up a few healthy options so that we won't have to sacrifice the adventures of casual/fine dining there completely. Behold, the new options from the Mediterranean Menu! Each item included contains 400 calories or less and are equally as savory as the full fat, high calorie meals.
With offerings like Jumbo Shrimp Spiedini, you won't have to sacrifice taste for health! According to its website, the dish is a mix of succulent jumbo shrimp seasoned with extra virgin olive oil and fresh lemon zest that is grilled on skewers with fresh rosemary, and "served with colorful roasted vegetables" for just $12.99. Including the sides, this dish only has 230 calories, 1g of saturated fat, and 26g carbohydrates. I'd say that's quite a bang for your calorie buck! You can also try the Grilled Chicken version of this dish for just 130 additional calories!
For you pasta lovers out there who can't bear to hit a spot like the Macaroni Grill and opt for a non-pasta dish, there's the Capellini Pomodoro which is described as "imported capellini pasta tossed with ripe grape tomatoes, Italian tomato sauce, garlic, extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil". For just 390 calories, 2g of saturated fat, and $8.00 you can enjoy this delectable dish. Not bad at all for pasta!
Two thumbs up for befriending our health conscious eaters, Macaroni Grill! Our waistlines and wallets sincerely thank you!
